My question is whether or not my detector is or isn't working properly? When I have it discriminating everything under 18 or so witch is pretty much just irony targets it still beeps on every thing from -90 to 99 should it still sound on discriminated items? I like whites but hate to think I bought two junks in a row.

Hi Mark,

In Missouri, the ground minerals really play havoc with discrimination. Try your detector in several locations and see if you get different results. Sounds like a ground balance issue.

Not sure if this helps or not, I have an M6, it makes sounds over targets when I'm using discrimination but the signals are not solid and repeatable or they are a low tone over iron and similar trash. It also depends on the size of the metal, if it's large I hear it loudly.

If you are in a lot of iron I usually drop down to 2 tone and disc wide open. That way you can hear all the lows and listen for the highs to come thru. Running higher and higher disc will cause masking very easily.
