I don’t believe that it is an artifact. I don’t see where it was altered by man. However, I do encourage you to keep your child interested in hunting for them. It’s just a matter of time until they find a good one.

is it metal ? does a magnet stick to it ? looks like a tine to me , maybe off of a garden fork.

Tip off a potato or similar fork as mentioned maybe.
Tip off a cultivator of some type maybe.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the replies. Sorry I've been late to check back in, I work night shift. I should have put more info. It is made of stone. My son is autistic and I swear every time he goes to play in our small yard he will find something. He said he wants to be a treasure hunter. It seems like all though the generations our family has liked to find neat rocks, there are some that have been passed down for generations.
