Last night we (LQ & I) counted up all our tumbled clad minus the pennies, all Quarters, Dimes & nickels we've dug up in 5 months................almost 1200 coins, $155! I figure Ive dug at least that many pennies, I dump those in a jar with my pocket change so I'll never know how many Ive dug. You would figure I'd dug up at least one silver coin with these numbers, right? Wrong! So I went to the coin shop today & spent $50 of clad on silver coins, bunch of WL halves, couple Franklin halves, some SLQ's & I guess the silver rubbed off on me. I dug my 1st silver coin tonight, a 1942D war nickel at 8 inches in the oldest park in town! As soon as I pulled it out I knew it was silver, nice & shiney..........even new nickels I dig are dark red! Also dug a 1946 wheatie at 8 inches plus, only my 5th in 5 months! Other thing in pic is a fishing lure/spoon, kinda cool. It was a great night tonight, diggin under a SILVERY moon! ;D

Congrats on the silver MP! I dug a War Nickel last spring. I used to find lots of these back in the 80's.

You're right, they come out of the ground looking pretty nice. You can tell a War Nickel right off.

Keep digging that loot!

Nice first silver, AP. I think yards are the way to go if you want to find silver. I don't usually do yards....but started detecting one last night, and I've already found five pieces of silver. I'll take it! :)

What's LQ been digging these days?

Congratulations Mighty AP,

My Dad said I might of paid a little bit too much but didnt do too bad. Old guy at the shop said someone had just came in bought most of his silver so Im waiting til he re-stocks to go get more.

congrads on another first,, you dig so much you deserve more of it,,rick

Congrats on finding a war nickle and so much clad, super!! I see CoolCash is rubbing off on ya and you bought some silver coins, very nice!! I agree that it's very difficult to find silver in parks and areas that have been hit numerous times all these years. If you can detect peoples yards, that's were it's really at!! Also, if you are pleased with what you bought, then you didn't pay too much for it. :)

Yea AP! Congrats!!!!

Now....get out there and hunt your OWN yard real good! :D

Nana :D

I like your choice of silver coins. The walking liberty and merc dime have to be two of the best looking coins the US ever minted.
Great use of clad!! HH

congrats my friend may it be the first of many good luck and hh

So I started a silver collection yesterday, I cant wait to get back down to the shop to buy more, its kinda addictive! Well my good buddy GoldSniffinDog (the guy who got me into detecting) just got back from a week in Seaside, on the Oregon coast last night. Him & his wife came over a bit ago to visit, tell us about their adventure, & to give me this!!! Woohoo! With my newfound addiction this was a very welcome site! Thank you Tim & Patty!!! ;D
My collection grows daily, I guess I can wait til Monday to hit the coin shop now!

way to go mighty

That is a nice looking commerative, AP. There are lots of versions of those, probably hundreds, in 1 ounce rounds. They are a good way of collecting silver bullion.
