Make sure the "tester" knows what him /her is doing with a "potentially" "serious" piece of jewelry when testing.
The ring already has a slew of "battle scars"...
And needs none from this time period added.
Especially someone who does a rub in the wrong areas... LIKE anywhere that can be seen when worn.
OR that the rub is "overkill" and obvious rub damage is produced... Devaluing the ring substantially.
And...
Make sure that the tester can test for 22k...
And... IF tests good for 22...
Make that THE ONLY test IF it tests positive OR very close to 22.
Stop there... you will be holding something VERY special.
And we shall continue on the quest of nailing down the mark.
IF test burns out semi quickly on 22... continue to 18k...
IF solid on 18...
Then the mark is a distorted 18 mark. IMO...
Old,,, but not "that old".
IF tests lower karat... Again... Old but not that old.
