My brother in law and I took our ACE 250s to a playground together for the first time. When we were anywhere near each other they both began beeping like crazy. We had troubles when we were maybe 20-25 ft. away from each other. Adjusting the sensitivity didn't seem to help. Is this normal or do we have a problem? Thanks so much!!

20-25 feet away and it was doing that? Wow, the wife & I can be right next to each other with no problem, but I have a minelab, I don't think that would make any difference though.

Something else might be interfering, is there alot of trash in the ground? cell phones can also play havoc at times. What is your senstivity at? Should start out like 3 or 4 bars. Try that and see what happens!

I've never had another Ace running next to mine. But if you turn one of yours off and the problem is solved then you solved your problem.

If you both had your sens to 4 bars or lower and couldn't get within 25 measured feet then I have a theory. I'm not an electronic expert but since you both were around play equipment the coils could have been inducing electrical currents into the metal therefor amplifying it's ability to reach each others detector? Just a silly guess?

The reason you got interference is because the two machines use the same operating frequency--regardless of where your sensitivity control is set at.  There isn't much shielding in the box of that model of detector I feel absolutely certain.  Even with the excellent shielding in the control box of my 1266-X, I've had interference with an identical model when hunting in close proximity.  The solution?  Hunt farther apart.

I do have two Ace 250's. One is waterproof for underwater work but still a 250. I'll fire them both up soon and test how close these two can be before there is crosstalk.

In my post I said "measured 25 feet" I would guess 25 feet there shouldn't be crosstalk. But less than that I would think it's normal.

Thanks everyone! Helpful but discouraging. :'(
A waterproof 250! How'd you do that? Let me know how they behave together.

I knew you guys would know! Thanks again for all the help everyone!

That saved me from running my test. Good info.

I have two , My friend uses one once and a while and we have to be appart from eachother otherwise the machines go crazy and if your right at the point where they start beeping then it will false alot.

We just made a rule.

If your called over my someone looking for something or needs help the person comming over to help turns off their machine.

Works well and its quiet. It might take a couple times out to get use to it.
