My ACE 250's 1st find!

It was a cold and Icy night when I set out to my old back yard at my parents place. The temperature dipped below freezing, but my leather gloves provided a warm grip on the bright yellow Garrett. Surely the stomping grounds of my youth would prove to contain all sorts of shiny things to excite this brand new coil. I turned on my trusty machine and off we went! After no more than four steps the gizmo let up wildly and chirped away. I had found it! My very first metal and it was pinpointing to be about 3 inches wide! My imagination ran wild with thoughts of buried cashes of old, and secret trinkets locked away in earths cold hard shell. I grabbed a shovel and dug out a four inch deep chunk of frozen icy tundra and promptly tossed it into a steaming bucket of hot water. Minutes later I had my prize! Now presenting my very first find!

It looks like some early 1990's iron to me ;D

I reckon there are plenty of good finds out there with your name on 'em!

You could get it gold/silver plated and wear your nail as bling ;)

Have fun,
Salvager

P.S. welcome from downunder

LMAO! That was funny!

Welcome, Tokomo!

Nails, pulltabs, poptops. screwcaps, canslaw and a thousand other assorted pieces of metal trash are out there just waiting.

Don't fret when you find them, for they separate the wheat from the chaff in our hobby.

Happy hunting!

WOW!!! That is an awesome hat pin!!! If you ever decide to sell it, let me know. I have the perfect hat to pin it on :)

I just got an ACE 250 a few months back, just practiced in the yard a bit, but haven't really takin' it out...looking forward to doing so in the next month. My first place for the year will be my son's school. Already received permission from the school's principal, vice-principal and my son's guidance counselor, but with some restrictions (can't detect on the ball fields). Looking forward to the NEW SEASON with my NEW DETECTOR: THE ACE!!!!

Wishing you many wonderful finds this year!!!

Re: My ACE 250's 1st find!

I have not gone out yet with my 250 because of the mile high snow we have but the temps are rising and the snow is melting hummmm what will my first find be ?

Re: My ACE 250's 1st find!

Let us know what you get! The Ace 250 seems to pick up every little scrap of metal it comes across! I tried doing some MDing in the rain the other day and found that it was almost imposable to locate the metal item in all the muck!

I guess there is no real easy way to sift through solid dirt :-\

I take one swing,-beep. i dig it up without hesitaation,. and what do I find.!? a nail. my very first find a nail. The md gods are laughing at me like you wouldn't believe.

HAH! yeah I felt the same way! It seems like there are quite a lot of free nails to be found anywhere near a house! I have a nice little collection going now ;D

Re: My ACE 250's 1st find!

LOL....made me think...when I first got my NEW ACE 250 (after using my sons 150)...I went out in the yard...and I can top ya'll on the ONE NAIL...

On the side of my house, I got a good signal...thinking, Hmmm...something really good, as I already found a spoon in that area that was very very deep!!! LOL...turned out to be what looked like someone either dumped or dropped a bucket of nails!!! OMG...I found a huge clump, all rusted together!!! Our house was built abt 1965! So, we are not even talking OLD NAILS!!! LOL

I threw alot of them away, but there were so many, we just covered up the hole!!! LOL...leave the rest for the next generation that detects the house!!! LOL
