My BEST and OLDEST American coin found today

Was hitting a backyard of house built in 1700s. Very trashy but heard a signal what I thought would be a can. High 70s on AT pro choppy. Carelessly dug hole and wish I didn’t because I nicked it on right bust side. I believe it’s 1796 but not 100 percent. I was on cloud 9 any didn’t care what I found rest of day but did dig a very nice button as well.

Congrats on that HUGE old US copper. I can make out the 1796 on it. Draped bust is not easy to come by. Our country was just 20 years old when that was minted.

Outstanding find! I dug one a week or so ago over in Coastal Georgia and it’s one of my favorite all times finds. Mine is 1798. I had to stop and look at it every few minutes for the rest of the day after finding it.
