very nice coins yourself!! I know this is a 1793 even without the date because the only pics that matched are 1793. I think it was only minted for part of the year.....almost had a heart attack when it fell out of the clod of dirt because it was so heavy. Had no idea what it was until after a lot of research.

I don't believe it to be 1793. Judging by the size it looks to be a half cent. The 1793 half cent had lady liberty facing the opposite direction. I think it could be earlier than 1793. The wreath is not indicative of the early half cent style either. I would do more research.

Excellent job!!!! You must have been really pumped. Hopefully, there was someone else with you to share the moment with even if it was just your dog.

my 2 year old and 5 year old were with me! :) My hunting partner stayed home with his wife and watched TV. I had a better day by far.....LOL :)

Nice find. Next time don't touch it at all. I think you could have saved some detail. Either way, that is an exceptional coin and an amazing one to find with your little ones. I love hunting with mine. I hope you find more!

:o Congratulations on that very rare one.

Really that's a great find for sure, congrats on the rare copper.

Very cool find! Congrats!

It is absolutely a 1793 wreath cent. the half cent never used the flowing hair design, and it can't be earlier than 1793, it was the first year other than some patterns of a different design.

Wow, I almost missed this one. The title of the post does it no justice, and I'm sure others have overlooked your great find. Congrats on recovering something special. A lot of us dream of seeing a flowing hair come from out from under our coil. Lowcountry, is there any lettering visible on the edge of the coin?

You know, I vote banner. This is a remarkable find and something that would shine very brightly amongst the other banner finds on here.

Wow, 1793 and the sibling of the chain cent! Congrats!!!!

just bars on the edge where it isn't worn away......kinda like the edge of a quarter. The only word I can make out is Liberty above the head....

I just want to thank everybody for the congrats and kind words!! :) I haven't been doing this very long and I really had no idea how special this coin is....Thanks again!!
