My cheesy gold and diamond ring, it's real...
Found and posted this ring last week as a cheesy gold ring with 11 fake diamonds, what do I know? It looked fake but, had the weight and no stamp. Took it to a coin/antique jewelry dealer today who I have been going to for a few years and had the ring checked. He examined it and said it’s real gold and diamonds but I wasn’t happy with just a look and asked him to test the gold for purity. He did two tests, 9K which passed and a 14K that started to break up so he thinks it could be an odd 12K gold ring. I asked how he knows the diamonds are real and he pulled out a diamond tester, I didn’t know they existed, and the stones tested positive diamonds. He said the ring was probably custom made with a mix of gold. Over the weekend my wife showed my Mother-in-law the ring, she really liked it so I’m going to give it to her, it fit nicely as well. The dealer said I might get $250.00 on the used market and I think he was being realistic so giving it to my Mother-in-law will be a pleasure as she is worth much more in babysitting time alone, LOL! HH, Mike
