I don't mean to be critical, but I did get rid of my CZ21 years ago for an Excalibur - Best move I have made in my 25 years of metal detecting.:occasion14:

My next machine will be Excalibur, but I love all my machines,,no worries Freedom of Speech,,I love all my machines,,HH

The post is the only metal on that earring and its super tiny. Most detectors wouldn't pick that up and most people don't want a detector that will pick up something that small.

I find lots of tiny earrings that are basically only a post and something non metallic on the end of it with my CZ21. I hunt in auto tune and sensitivity at about 7.5. And I find them at several inches deep on top of that. I wouldn't take anything for my CZ 21 but I have always believed that its what we are used to using and have mastered. There can always be some glitches though not every detector is the same.

I have about 5 earings identical to that one - all found with my CZ21
I find earing backs all the time with it too
I also find gold hoop earrings behind guys with excels
I have hunted with about 12 guys with excals over the yrs
I hunt in all metal and get stuff behind them deeper and small gold behind them all the time - especially the guys
that like to crank their discrim.
most of the places I hit are worked regularly by Excal users - if you look at my album pages - I do alright following them
I hunted with a well known hunter here the other day and he found 2 stud earings with his new 3030 - he admitted he never would have found those with his Excal

I have no problems finding the smallest stud ear rings and often find the back piece by itself. I found a pearl stud ear ring like yours. A lot has to do with the size of the coil, mineralization, what is near the target and discrimination setting.

I'm looking for the honkers myself LookingDown. Not the tiny pieces of jewelry or thin necklaces. Nice finds Kiana!

Great pics, Kiana...and great hunting!

My CTX has picked up a host of post earrings and even a few backs.

Odd thing was a 1.5 gram 14K hoop earring that I found with the Excal2. It's 3/4 around with the little latch unattached for the last 1/4... CTX picked up NOTHING!!!

Gonna keep testing using different settings.

So right Casper, you are a true Legend Hunter in my Books,my Df found my first Gold, and now my CZ21 found my first Diamond Plat & Plat Band,I was just surprised why it didn't p/up on the pearl,& yet I've dug about 12 inch for a tiny piece of metal..I think I'll bring it along & try to play with my settings to see if it will p/up on it,,HH:hello:
