I was on my way home from detecting a site that I've hunted out and about two miles from where I grew up right next to the train tracks is a place the county has gas takes at and near that spot is two old barns and near one of them is a well and I walked to the back side and I find another well. So I decided to hunt for an hour. I found an old lock and then I had a sweet signal on the dfx and I knew I had to dig it. It was some kind of military button that had the shank and it said waterbury co.

and I dug allot of clad pennies and my last signal was 7 inches deep and it was showing a penny or dime signal so of course I dug it up. It was a penny but i couldn't make out any detail on it but is was that blue kinda color that copper turns so I knew it was probably old. So when I got home I ran some water over it and I made out the wheat back and then on the other side I made out the date 1919.

I'm no button expert, but looks like a general service button to me. I'm sure someone will give you a proper id

good finds. 1919 was a high mintage year for wheats, but a welcome find over clad any day. keep on diggin :icon_thumleft:

i believe its a great seal button from WWII. nice find but a fairly common button. at least it is in my neck of the woods.

Nice finds. I really like the lock.
