My First 1800's coin....finally!!

v nickels 10-02-13.webp
For the longest time I could NOT break past the century mark. A 1902 Indian head penny is as far back as I've found. My two good metal detecting friends put me in an old location, and I give them COMPLETE credit and appreciation! My buddy found the 1900 on the right, then a few minutes later I found the 1891. Love the Lady Liberty sisters! Now ready to move on to older....:-)

Congrats on those great old finds! It def is a great feeling when you do get an 1800's coin!:icon_thumleft:

Congratulations on your first 1800's coin. It shows you have to get to the old sites to find the old coins. I use old maps to locate areas that were once active that are no more. There are many of them online and it's just a matter of finding one on the area you're interested in. I've added a link to one from Georgia in 1795. This year I've pulled up multiple coins from the 1700's as well as my first seated half dollar from 1872 as a result of checking the old maps. Georgia, from the latest Authorities. W. Barker, sculp.
