It was a cool 34 degrees out with wind out on the Chesapeake bay. My best find along with 3 wheats, was this cool brass ship spike or nail I have never found one before I find the iron ones all the time but never brass. If anyone can give me a year or ball park that would be awesome! Also about 3 dollars in clad, a lot of nickels. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1486165802.841795.webp

Wow! Imagine if we could know the story of the guy that pounded that into a ship! Where was he born? How old was he! Nationality?
 

I would say most bronze spikes can be attributed to the 1800s - some may be from ships/boats thank sank in the early
1900s but were probably built in the 1800s
 

happy for you but a little jealous...really cool artifact
 

I find the iron ones all the time there always super crudy or broken so I usually trash them unless I find a nice one I may keep for display
