Okay, so it wasn't a *cache* cache, but rolls of coins from the bank. Went over to my local bank after I ate lunch today, to get some halfs. Got $100 worth, and when I got back to my dorm room to look at them, I noticed somebody had written their last name and phone number on them. "Oh great, all the silvers will be gone" is what I thought. Opened up a roll, out of the whole roll the only one that stuck out was a bicentennial Kennedy. Open up the next roll, 4 more Bicentennials. At this point I'm thinking "maybe this guy collected coins, and he died and one of his kids just decided to cash them in, because I was getting all sorts of mixed years. Opened up another roll, the whole thing was Bicentennials. Now my heart is going a bit faster from excitement, I pretty much tore open the rest of the rolls. All told, 106 Bicentennials out of the 200 halfs I got. Pretty damn good day for me, this was my first time roll hunting and I'm pretty happy with myself so far. I still gotta look through the rest of them, and see if I have any errors or anything else.

Sounds like a good start although I'm not all that 'up' on US coins.

Good job we don't have silver over here as I have little time left to be obsessed with another passtime.

I guess its a great winter gap filler if your iced in, Good luck :)

WTG Travis sounds like you did well.

Keep looking you're bound to hit more.

I dont know what area your from, but I hope your not in mine. Just kidding, I just took three hundred dollars worth of bicentenial halves back to the bank last week. I couldnt believe every roll could be bicentenials but they were. I went to five banks in our downtown and the teller gave me one roll and 14 loose ones in an envelope she threw in 6 she had in her drawer, the roll was all Franklin and the envelope was a mix of 64s and 40% kennedys except for the 6 she threw in from her drawer. I hope you keep finding good rolls. I wont be taking searched rolls back to the bank anymore I found one local that has a coinstar machine I dont even have to reroll them and they dont charge a fee. less chance of getting the same rolls back. Good luck again :)

Hey travis, Way to go on the Bicentenials. Keep an eye out for 1964 kennedies which were the one year they made them as solid silver. Also keep eyes peeled for 1965-70 which are 40% silver. After 1970 they were copper/nickel clad. Keep up the roll hunting. I just bought 520 dollars worth of halves and walked away with 12 solid silvers and about 25 40%ers. Good luck.

WTG..that is something that I should be doing during the winter I guess. I cant feed my addiction while there is snow out, might as well go to the bank and see what I can find.

Am I missing something, here?
Were they regular or silver Bi's?

Whatever makes you happy! I release them back into the wild! ;D

My thought too! 1776-1976 are useless to CRH unless silver or proofs. Now if you could find a 1975 half you have a coin worth a lot of money ::) ;D

Yeah, I know they aren't really worth anything more than 50 cents, but I thought it was pretty cool/strange to find that many at one time. I'm going to take them back to another bank on monday, so I don't get the same rolls twice. I was kinda hoping to get at least one silver, but oh well. Next time I'm def. getting around 500 halves, so I have more of a chance. One thing that did make me a bit happy is, all of the coins except the one roll appear to be uncirculated, like whoever had them got them right from the bank brand new and put them away.
