I was off of work last Thursday and Friday, so I slipped out with Smittyman for a bit of hunting. I was lucky enough to located the following items:

- '20 & '34 green wheaties in the same hole.
- Large green shell casing.
- Button w/ eagle & anchor.
- '43 & '44 OD nickels. Nothing like seeing that large shiny "P", when you wipe it off.
- '48 Washington quarter.

On Saturday, I ventured out with TNetter, Kurt Stuben. We hit a place that everyone has already hunted to death ( a house built in 1949). There was a big stick on the ground (that everyone had been walking around), I moved it out of the way, and sure enough, there was a deep weak signal under it, I dug the target and a green copper disc appeared... after some debate, it turns out that it is a KGII! My first colonial coin.

Just goes to show that you NEVER know what you will find.

YTD silver coins: 81.

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

The colonial coin is pretty cool! I'm always green with envy when I see people find stuff like that!

Always nice to find a first. It's kind of funny, but this hobby seems to have a never-ending supply of firsts to be had.

Congrats!

I was told that the button was 1890 to 1930 Navy. It does not have a back at all, so no back mark. The boys said it was "wing over fluke" which made it newer.

Thanks DND. I was really psyched when I saw the "G" on the coin, and began to realize that it might be a KG.

Great find and again it's probably the only KG2 found in your area. Just to clarify what GW digger is saying is it could likely be a counterfeit (as are most in the U.S.), but counterfeits are period and not usually not produced later. Buddy, my hat is off over this amazing and rare find for your area. Who says you need to come north to find one?

A KG II is always a super nice find. You're now in the 18th century club. Hope the soil was not too tough on your penny, so that you can see a date. Congrats!

Congrats Tom on breaking the barrier, and now hopefully the floodgates will open up for you. And I agree with the KG3 assessment.

Congrats on the oldie Tom and the silvers. It's a great day out if one can get a first regardless of what it might be.
