Saturday I decided to go out and test some new settings on my CTX-3030. I went to my old hunted out civil war campsite. I wasn't there long before I pulled out my first Confederate "CS" Belt Plate! I was shocked to say the least. This one is the Regulation style and you can see where all three solder marks are on the back, from the long gone hooks. Needless to say I will continue "testing" these settings for another year or two LOL

Wow! Congrats on recovering a great piece of American history! :notworthy:

Congratulations on a killer Confederate find!!

Congrats on a sweet find. Wow...

Very nice find. Gives me hope. How deep was it???

Incredible find Mississippi Jim. :notworthy: I really like the patina on it and there is enough of it to display awesome. I'm sure if you wanted to, this would be an excellent restoration candidate too.

Thank you all, I'm still smiling. bonepicker, it was only about 4" deep, but it had some iron masking it. I believe that is why it wasn't found before now. I hit this place hard for over 20 years. My great uncle and his buddy pounded it for another 15-20 years before I got into it.

OutdoorAdv thanks, I think it would look great restored and I been thinking about it. But I believe I will leave it as originally found. (still thinking some on it)

Congratz! Great Find!!!

Iron always seems to mask all the good stuff! Awesome job digging that iffy signal. I am often rewarded digging those signals, but never rewarded as much as you just were with a CS plate. ha I hear ya on the restoration decision... it would be a tough choice for sure. I personally think it looks incredible just the way it is. You can always enjoy it for as long as you want and make that decision years down the road. Once again, excellent find Mississippi Jim.

Very nice find . Congratulations on recovering that piece of history

Hey Mississippi Jim , He!! yeahh , Amazing CSA relic ! Still hiding after 15 years is a great inspiration to get outdoors and search the pounded sites , again.

Question ; can you estimate the depth ?

Dawg

Thanks everyone, like they say it's never completely hunted out. It was about 4" deep but had iron near it.

Very NICE find!! Great save for sure!!! :occasion14:

Thanks for getting back .

Luv it , when the land owner or others say, " that place is hunted out " . Keep hitting more !

In awe. In my humble opinion, it's a BANNER even in that condition. I mean, how many of us will ever dig that?

Awesome find even in that condition! Top on my wish list! Congrats!
