Finally found my first silver coin today! It's a 1918 Canadian 5 Cent piece! This was probably only my 6th hunt here in Canada since I got my ACE 350! I hit a park area on the "old side" of town, this area has seen regular activity since at least 1800. Dug the usual junk and 5 pennies, one was a Lincoln Memorial.

Thanks very much for looking and Happy Hunting everyone! :icon_thumright:

Congrats on the silver :headbang:
those fish scales are hard to see even after the recovery!
they can hide in the smallest pile of dirt, but that sharp signal lets you know it is there
K.KID........... :icon_sunny:

Thanks very much KID! This silver came out of a plug that had numerous
signals in it too! I had to dig it just to see what all the fuss was about! :laughing7:
Glad I did too!

dave i still remember posting my finds here on t-net and adding the last line "still no silver"
seems to me it went on for a few months like that.
then after getting my first silver coin it was a 1917 merc and i found it on apr 29 2009
after that finding silver just kinda of picked up
just wait a week or so and see how many more silver coins you find

I'm happy for you man. You will always remember your first. :laughing7:

Keep the passion!

I'm trying to get out this weekend, but my wife needs my help getting our tax information sorted! :tongue3: The upside to this is that with our tax refund I plan on buying a set of wireless headphones! ;D

Best of luck to you in your hunts!

Congrats Dave. I love those Canadian Silvers with the Kings and Queens on them. It harks back to the older British coins for me and gives them that extra charm in my eyes.

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate your words of support! :icon_thumright: I don't think I'll be pulling out any GW's any time soon like you seem to be able to find every couple of months! :laughing7: But, I'd love to see any kind of Victorian coin in the dirt! :icon_thumright:

Thanks very much for your post Josh! :icon_thumright: I hear what you're saying, here in Canada we just can't seem to let the British leave like you guys did! :laughing7: Thanks again buddy, always love seeing what you find!

That's a great silver for a first silver. Or second or third, for that matter.
And hey, keep the Lincoln, our gift to you.
Kudos!
Carl

That place being a park for such a long time should provide you with some more silver.

No doubt lots of 5 cent silvers lost....strangely you don't seem to find too many of them...I got a 1911 last week or so, it was a full 8 inches down and sang out loud. I wonder if they sink faster being smaller ?

Missed this.

Congrats on your first - date of the end of the Great War :icon_thumright: Now aim for the 1800s :read2:

Thanks very much for the compliment on the silver Carl! :icon_thumright: You'd be amazed by the number of US coins that I find up here! It's all good though! :laughing7:

Thanks for the post Rick! :icon_thumright: This one was only about 2" deep, very shallow and right next to a very old tree! This coin has a bit of a bend to one edge, but I don't mind! :laughing7:

Thanks for the congrats Cru! The early date did surprise me, but this area has seen constant activity for the last 200 years.

Cheers,
Dave
