Hey Guys,

I joined the forum a couple months ago right when I purchased my ACE 250 and got serious about detecting. Here are most of my finds for about a months worth of hunting. If you have any suggestions or tips on this post, or posting pictures let me know! Still learnin' here!

Some 2009 finds:

.925 Silver Chain (My first silver...)
(4) Common Wheats (1 unreadable)
(3) Tokens "Good For 5 Cents in Trade" Reverse: "With W.M. Burg" (Any Info? Found in SE WI...)
(1) Button "Spes Nostra es Devs" Translation: God is Our Hope (Found 6 inches deep, seen others on forums, Revolutionary War button worn by mercenary soldiers...reproductions were made...any way of telling? It looks extremely old and is falling apart, no clue on this one...)
Zippo lighter - surface find
Arrowhead necklace -found at boy scout camp
Junk rink
Lot of shells
Scout neck ties
Bottle - "Hinds Honey and Almond Cream - A.S. Hinds CO, Bloomfield N.J., U.S.A."

Thanks for lookin'!

Re: My First Finds Post

Did you note any specifics on the error message during the photo upload attempt? Sounds like you have some GREAT finds to show!

By "mercenary" would you be referring to Hessians? I've seen a few tombstones in some of the remote cemeteries that indicate the interred was a Revolution-era soldier, finding articles from one this far west would be awesome!

Re: My First Finds Post

You got silver! fantastic.

As for the pics, they probably need to be resized. In your photo program go to "save as" and save them as 50% size and it makes it better for uploading to forums.

Re: My First Finds Post

Very nice!!!

Yes, pics would be nice for sure. If you're interested, let me know & I'll PM my cell # to you. Then you can call me & I'll walk you through it.

Re: My First Finds Post

Nice finds certainly for both just beginning and also winter months!

On the photo thing, I've not had problems. What I do is go and re-size my photos so that they are no more than 700 pixels wide (that is what is suggested, so they fit in the post.) After I re-size them, I check file-size. I try to keep each photo under 500k. There is a limit of 1000k per attachment and no more than 12 attachments per post. If you have more than 12 photos, just reply to your first post with the rest of the photos. It could be that you just tried to post at a time treasurenet was having problems or something.

have a good 2010 hunting,
Jon

Yes, a Hessian mercenary soldier, check out the picture, I thought it was junk when I found it...also learned more about it here: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=9548

Thanks everyone, the files were just too big at first but I figured it out. Will probably be posting more hopefully soon!

Awesome finds! It's in your blood, man!

Seriously, finds like that would make any seasoned, experienced hunter happy. You better not get spoiled!! lol

Yeah right! That is an excellent specimen.

Seriously doubt there was a battle there though. Maybe some of the POW's from 1812 or even earlier just figured they'd stay on in the U.S. and get the farming started. Referred to elsewhere as the three-legged, or Teutonic Eagle, might be a fantasy piece or maybe some designer line from who knows when?

Maybe we can get them button-holers on the site to tell us more!

Great start so far.. There will be a lot more this coming summer....
You'll get use to down sizing those pics in no time...
