Hello from South Texas. This is my first posting and I'm a Brand new Treasurenet member and TH'er. I had my first finds yesterday at a local coastal beach in which I produced a 1978, and 1966 Quarter.(and a lot of beer cans). I am using a White's DFX and so far I'm using the pre-set programs. I'm definitely hooked and can't wait til I'm off work again next Friday to try out some old parks and schools. I've really enjoyed reading these forums and hope to learn alot from everyone.
See ya in the dirt,

Good luck and welcome aboard! Don't get discouraged if that old park and school have been searched before; there may still be good things waiting for you. We'll look forward to seeing what else you find.

Welcome DFX Texan and good luck. Looking forward to seeing your finds. Just remember patience the good stuff is out there and it's our duty to find it.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. The DFX is a good machine. The more you use it, the more you will learn, and the more you will find. I'm starting to get the hang of mine.

Welcome Randy!

welcome to Tnet ;D read, re-read and read again the owners manual. There is soooooo much stuff the DFX will do. But most importantly, understand what the pre-amp gain and AC Sens will do for you!

8) Hi Randy , you sure jumped into this hobby with the right tools but before you get discouraged just remember that the DFX can be a complicated machine that takes time to learn what she is telling you so be patiente and you WILL have a blast with it and all your finds .
By the way the DFX is next on my christmas list unless I get really lucky this summer.

Welcome...
Congratulations and....
Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome, I to just got my dfx. I like it a lot. Try the dfx only site. It will tell you how to tweek up the factury settings, for a lot more depth. The preset programs will only get you shallow coins. Your preamp gain and ac sens, bottle cap rejection, sweep speed, all control your depth. I like the preamp at 4 ac at 76 or even higher when possiable. Bottle cap reject at 1 is all you need. Good luck its a good detector when you learn it. Mike

Welcome DFX Tex!

I use that machine too. Those beer cans ring up like crazy on the DFX. One thing I recommend is turning off the ratchet pinpoint. It helps to gauge the size of a target.
Also tone ID "on" is a great feature.

HH!
