It was easier to swing your arm. But it was the best thing going at the time.

I the late 70's I sat in an 1802 era indian fort and watched a guy with a Fisher 441 just rack up in a trench / breast works. I decided to buy a Fisher. My first was a 553-D. It was awesome. I wore it out and bought a 555-D . It was a great machine too. Then I bought a 1260-X . Found memories

The 1220x was my first good detector back in the early 80's....great little detector. I just found a new old stock 1220x on craigslist for 70 bucks shipped ! I'm anxious to get the 1220x out once again !

I remember when all detectors looked like that and some of the newer ones where coming out with the arm cuff. I told my dad that they looked weird like a crutch. I can't see swinging one like that anymore for the life of me, few months ago I tried swinging a old Compass and it was hard on my wrist. The first detector I used was his old one and it was a Radio Shack model with handle like a vacuum cleaner which was behind the control box.
