I went back to the park I've been hunting for about 2wks now... my first time there (which was my first time ever using an md) I found 2 wheat pennies. I've been back there three times since then, the last two I just found a bunch of trash and junk... including 12 rifle shells. Today I started out searching near an old looking stone wall I'd been hunting, I found a clad dime (1980), and the came across a bullet shell from a 22... it was really hard to pinpoint, it kept rolling down the hill I was on and the signal kept vanishing it drove me crazy! About 1hr into it I got a call from my girl telling me to get home and blah blah blah.... I figured I needed to find something good before I left so I headed down a path in the woods and stopped at its end. The path was overgrown with nature and after awhile I lost it, at the very end I hit a strong signal and dug a hole about 5in in depth, I scanned the ground and the signal was gone so I scanned the pile of dirt I had removed and my md rang out loud with a silver signal. The dirt was dark on top and turned kinda orange towards the bottom. I broke up a big clump of dirt and saw...

great standing lib! im still looking for my first. as far as cleaning it, i wouldnt.i think its gorgeous just the way it is.

awesome find......she's a beauty for sure......... ;D

I wouldn't clean it pal!

If you clean it it will just be like thousands of others.

As is it's distinct and the natural toning makes it beautiful.

In my book, dug coins rule!

If it has lumps on it just soak it in water for a week or two.

Really great!

Nice quarter, please don't clean it. A natural patina is acceptable. A true coin collector will pass up a cleaned coin and it's unnatural surface and patina. I think it's killer just like it is. Congrats, Where's silver :o

Thanks... I'm still ;D ing looking at it... the silver looks so bright coming out of the dirt! I think I'm just gonna let it soak in some distilled water for a little while. Any tips on the best way to dry it after without scratching it? Also I went back to the park today for 2hrs but didn't find much. 4 more rifle shells a clad penny(1967) and a cover to a whisky bottle that looks old, says "The Calvert Distilling co. Baltimore, MD" on it.
