Hi everyone, I decided to go on a hunt yesterday but did not want to go to the regular park I have been hitting because there has been a summer camp of over 100 kids there and they are all over the park. I didn't want to hit the old school because they were holding summer school there so I decided I should try a new area. I had done some research on this older park but could not find out how old it was. I new it was at least early 50 to 40's so I decided to give it a shot. The first target I got was a 1982 cent 5 inches down and was totally green.
I knew that this may turn out worse then I thought. After about 30 minutes and only dug modern cents at 4 -5 inches I was about to call it a day when I got a mid 40's tone at 5-6 inches. I dug it out and it turned out to be a 1936 dime!
I started to get a bit excited knowing that I could now find more silver so I stayed and continued to hunt. About 20 minutes later and having only dug a couple more modern cents I got a screamer showing 2:45 at 5 inches. I dug down not thinking it was anything special and saw the edge of the rim. I got the camera out and started filming. At first since it was only 5 inches I was thinking it was a toonie but as I pulled it out I saw King George and said HO-LY BEEP! I could not believe I had just pulled out my first large silver coin!
It turned out to be a 1940 Half Dollar. After that I found more clad and a wheat cent. I was smiling all day after finding that silver. The day before I hit the regular park and pulled out a 1964 dime and a couple of old cents. Good Luck and HH. Here is a link to the video:
