Hit my wagon trails tonight, found four cents in clad, a 1910 wheat, and this bent ring. I was excited to see the 14K mark, but quickly realized it was plated. Oh well, it's still cool because some pioneer lost it on the wagon train, and there are initials. I'm going to check the record books and see if I can figure out whom it may have belonged to. Its a long shot but what the hell. The silver streak is over haha, but it was a beautiful evening to be out digging.

Neat finds. Let us know if you find any information on the possible ring history.

Still a nice personal relic :occasion14:, good luck with the research !

Even not Gold I would still very much consider it a Great find because of what is inside...

I love dates, names, anything to give the ring a personality.

hey that's still cool plated or not!, keep digging those tones and gold will pop up eventually

Still copper :)
Copper is better than lead :)

Pioneer bling beats modern in my book any day, congrats. You know a bone-weary traveler regretted losing that one, probably pushing a stuck wagon wheel out of a rut...the stories it could tell. Sub 8-)

Nice digs. I take that, them a zinc penny any day.

It's good practice for the Gold. I Love Goooooold!

Nice relic find! It's going to put you on a different type of hunt now, a history hunt! No telling what you'll uncover!

I'm more disappointed finding modern fake 14K stamped jewelry (or zincs)...no history just junk!
I usually get a heads up from the detector reading before I dig the item. If the VDI reading doesn't match it's probably fake but I inspect it all when I get home.

You'll get the gold next time.

That is a really nice find. Some pioneer guy got yelled at for losing that ring!

I found one a while back that had 18K stamped in it. It also had EGP, for electro gold plated, I got really excited for about 10 seconds...
