So I'm new to this hobby. I've been out a few times roaming around the yard and I've found a few items, you all know, a quarter, a handful of pennies, nails, some real junk, but yesterday's finds really set the hook. I found my first silver, first wheat penny and even a gun. I just had to share, so here are some pics. Oh, I probably should add, I'm using a Bounty Hunter 505

Congratulations on your first silver and a gun!!
Wow! You've got some nice finds there.
Happy Hunting and Welcome to Treasurenet!

John

Nice finds you are doing well. Did you rub the silver dime to see the date, or were those scratches all ready there. Come on admit it we all scratched our first silver.

Welcome to TNET and some great looking finds for starts. Stay with it. Not all of your hunts will be successful but it's all about a love for the hobby :icon_sunny:

Jumping Jimminie, welcome to TNET, great finds and hopefully more to come.

Ha, it could have been me or my daughter. I'll have to learn to resist the temptation to clean the dirt off with my fingers.

That's a really good day right there ! Silver quarters are not so easy to find - and a merc -that's always special !

Argentium.

Sorry about the pic sizes... I have modified a couple of them to make them smaller and more pleasing to the eye.

Wow!! That's some yard you have there!!

Mercs are one of my favorite coins to find. It took me all last season to find my first (and only) silver George! Never found an intact cap gun either.

Welcome to T-Net and congrats on the great finds!!

Great finds, if you don't scratch your first silver you should check your pulse, chances are you are dead. I am still waiting for the day I get to scratch my first silver though.

HH,

Dave

My, my, my... aren't we off to a good start. You got a bit of good on ya there mate. (I'm not British or anything I just like the saying) Yea don't forget how much you like to fish.... lol Save some for us newbees ??? My first silver was a 1957 Rossie. I dug a Cap Gun like that one before too. Yours is in great condition its likely worth more than those silver coins.

Welcome,

Keep @ it and HH!!

Nice finds and pics, it looks like you know where to hunt !

Thanks, I'm still learning the camera. I have a Canon S2 IS. These were shot in super Macro mode with manual focus, no flash. I don't care for the yellowish tint, probably because of the incadescent light bulb. I'm going to try a flourescent next time. The items were on a white piece of cardboard. I do need to work on getting the uploaded size smaller so they don't take over the whole screen. Anyone have any hints as to how much I should reduce them or what physical dimensions to make them?

The cap gun suprisingly has "Made in the USA" on it. I wish I knew how old it was. I've lived here for 20 years and have all girls. The previous owner had a couple of boys that were out of the house for a while before we moved in. It's possibly from the neighbors, the house is a rental property but there hasn't been boys there in quite a few years either.
