Hello all,
A couple of days ago I was hunting an old site near my home. I had found a 1909 Lincoln cent on the site earlier in the week and I had a feeling that there was more to be found. I was using my MXT with the New 6" DD Excelerator searchcoil. I was sweeping a loose pile of dirt put there by a bulldozer. I received an iron signal mixed with a quarter and half dollar signal. I dug down and recovered a large rusted nail. Before moving on I swept the soil once more and received a quarter signal that was bouncing to fifty cents. I dug a little more and saw the coin laying next to a white jar. To say I was excited would be an understatement. In over 20 years of metal detecting this was my first silver dollar and boy was she in great shape. I am really lucky in that had I not swept the soil one more time the dollar would still be in the soil. It pays to double check those holes. Thanks and Happy Hunting, Dennis in Idaho
