So when I was younger, I stashed a few coins away, basically on a whim. Now that I have a better understanding of coins, I went back through my old collection, and sorted out what was worth keeping (silver, buff, wheat) and what I wanted to get rid of (clad). So a handful of Sacajaweas, presidentials, Susans, halves, quarters, dimes, etc. went to the coin counter. There was one quarter I held on to not because I knew anything about it, but because it was "odd". Turns out my quarter was "odd" because it was SILVER!! a 1951D. Also in the stash was a 1967 half (40%)

In addition to that, I have a buffalo nickel that has a stud soldered to the indian side and bowed out, so I think it was a button for jeans or something. The date is covered with solder, so no clue what year (No mint mark).

Then fast forward to a few days ago. I started my winter job at a different park. This park has a "Camper Services Building" that has restrooms, coin-op showers and changers. During the busy season, when we empty the changers we always just assume that when we take $30 in bills out, we have to put $30 in quarters back in and we're square. But now that it is the off season, I got to pull the changer apart, clean it up, get all the quarters BACK in the hopper, and make sure that there was a starting balance of $100 in quarters in both the men and womens changers. So, I dumped out the first hopper, and there, lying on top I saw a 1964 quarter, and I said to my self - hey, aren't '64s silver?? Checked the rim and yes indeed, my first find that I knew what I found!
