Finally, after years of digging stainless steel and silver plated utensils I can cross silver spoon off my list!

I found this spoon late this afternoon at the 1912 permission that has so far given up at least 40 coins dating before 1920.
Looks to be a souvenir spoon from Washington DC capitol building.

By far, this is the ugliest silver i have ever found! Here it is cleaned up.

Any ideas on the makers mark?

Nice recovery, congrats! :occasion14:

Pretty or not, it's silver, congrats on the save, GL & HH

Sweet find! My ratio is like 100 plated for each silver one, well earned recovery. Congrats

I think she's fine just the way she is! Nice spoon! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Beauty is only skin deep. Looks great to me. Congrats!

Ugly or not!! I’d take it!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks everyone! I am trying to figure out why their is so much pitting. The tarnish was taken off by the tinfoil and baking soda method. It was found below a layer of gravel but not surrounded by gravel.

Yep, that thing's pretty ugly, but remember that old song = "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife."

And I'm certain that spoon made you happy :)

Very nice save on that Old Silver spoon. Still a lister for me. Congrats!

Nice clean up job on the silver spoon.

LMAO yes it made me very happy!

Nice clean up job on the silver spoon.

Thanks, it was very easy. Just take some tinfoil and shape it onto a bowl, put the spoon in contact with the tinfoil, cover the spoon with super hot water and sprinkle a little salt and baking soda over the top. Then sit back and watch the magic!

I would be proud to display it. Nice find!
