Temp finally found it's way into the high 40's today in Central PA and I was chompin' at the bit to dig. Hunted an old picnic grove woods area that Jeff and I have hunted several times in the last year. The wooded area was not giving up any coins today but I did find the cap gun, which is marked "Hubley" on the right side and "Cowpoke" on the left side. I also found the Eagle 6 Lever lockset in the woods, looks like an antique to me, anyone have any info on the Eagle lock company? I also found the Motorola Razr cell phone in the wood, still in a belt case. Don't know if the phone was lost or tossed, battery and sim are still in it.
I left the woods after about 2½ hours and went to the ball field on the same property. I was about 4 hours into the hunt and about ready to quit when I started hitting wheats. I slowed down and started working back and forth in the corner of the field and the coins kept coming. I had about 9 wheats in the bag when I finally got the sweet sound of silver in my headphones. At about 6 inches I saw my first Standing Liberty Quarter laying in the hole.....I was excited to say the least!! A 1925 in well worn shape but she's mine!!
My take for the day ended up being 11 wheats (2-27's,1-3?,1-36,1-4?,1-41,1-45,1-50,2-53 and 1-56), 8 clad quarters,8 memorials,3 clad dimes and 1 Jefferson nickel. Also the phone, cap gun and padlock.
Felt good to finally have a day warm enough for a 5 hour hunt!! Thanks for lookin'!
