Metal Detecting
last night, i went out to metal detect at my grandparents house. while i was looking, the man living next door came out and told me i could look on his property also, if i wanted to. I told him i would, once i was done in my grandparents yard. after a few memorial pennies in an hour in my grandparents yard, i moved to the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the road in front of his yard. within five minutes i got a really crummy signal at five inches deep, by far the deepest of the day. because it was so (relatively) deep, i decided to dig it and lo and behold my first old coin ever popped out! A 1957-D wheaty, my oldest coin i have ever found metal detecting!!! I was so pumped! After i calmed down a bit i continued hunting. i found three more memorials on the grassy strip, then moved to his front yard. near a tree in his yard i got a good and loud beep and my detector showed the item as being about two inches down. expecting another clad, i dug an when i flipped my plug, a nice shiny dime fell out. i picked it up and saw a "D" on the back and jumped for joy! it was a 1961-D Roosevelt dime! my first silver ever! it was an awesome hunt and my best yet!!!

congrats on your firsts and welcome to this great hobby!

Doesn't matter how old the detector is, just as long as it beeps at the right times! Glad to see the excitement!
