This is mark's 2nd gold coin of the trip, and what a coin. The roman expert said it is a very pricy coin and will go up for auction. the procedes will be split between Mark and the farmer. Gold Aurius of Claudius 54 AD

What a blast!

Wow that is an amazing coin! A lot of gold there and incredible detail!

You will have to get your friend to post it so we can give him banner votes!

Simply AWSOME! Stuff we'll never see here in the states.

Insane find!!! So much history right there! HUGE congrats! That coin could have very well been handled by Roman dignitaries!

Wonderful, I believe it has very high value!

Surely win many votes! :icon_king:

In Sears 2001 Vol 1 the prices quoted were VF $2,800 and EF $7,200. Must be a $5000 coin easy.

Question to the team:

We find 1 Roman Silver in a field for every 50-70 Bronze Coins, & of the 6000++ Bronze & couple of hundred silver, I've not had 1 gold. So what sort of site was it in the Roman period? Plus how much Roman stuff did you get from that field?
