After waiting for the snow to get low enough to go slogging through the woods, finally got out and hit the dirt. Pulled out a nice front barrel band for a rifle-musket. I'm guessing Enfield vs Springfield, but will wait for the electrolysis. Also a nice early large silver that is in surprising shape. A few CW bullets that I didn't bother taking pics of, and the usual haul of modern bullets and shotgun brass. This is the third earliest dated coin Ive found, so I was pretty happy about it.

That is a really nice find.

Wow, awesome find. Found many silver halves but never any older than a Walker. Congrats!

Great silver find dc :headbang: congrats, CMD

Nice! Looks like to me the half has some type of signature scratched on it or am I seeing things?

Too bad about those engravings on the obverse, freaking awesome coin though!

My favorite the capped bust. Beautiful coin.

Great find no matter what shape it is in! Congrats! :headbang:

I figured they were just scratches on it. Could have been someones personal good luck touches though !
