thanks all, I don't think the badge with the star is silver because there are no markings on the back
 
I like your cannon, I pretty sure yours is a mid-19th C types & not the typical late 18th C.

thanks, a friend found one of the 18th c. ones on the opposite field to the one I was on just shows you never know whats going to be found
