Got my scoop today...compared to what I've been using
This thing is massive....
Can't wait to try it altho it does have some weight to it. ..I think it'll do the job
Mainly lake hunts here so I'll be in the water with it 90% of the time so maybe that counter acts the weight
I'll get the measurements later and the weight
It's made from stainless

Looks good! You might want more of a point on that nose. It will help you in the rocks!

Thanks!! He charged me just for material I give him a 85.00 bucks for it
Will take it out tomorrow and do a test on it
It should do the job
Maybe!!
The long handle helps with the weight
Thanks again

Go the extra step.... put the rods on the top like the Starvr and Sunspot, also reenforce the front top or you will peal it back like a can opener with the flex you are going to have.

Yep, I think he's got it stuck all the way down through basket and welded to bottom, if it's not it will peel back like a beavertail on the old beer cans.

Yes its tacked all the way down to the base of the scoop . Still plenty of room to get target out the only other thing I'm doing to it is polishing and maybe drilling some smaller 3/16 ths holes sound the outer perimeter
Other than that I believe it'll hold
Thanks for the comments

APPRECIATE the veteran water hunter comments on the mods that's why I posted this
Even with the handle all the way through do (yall) still see a need for more reinforcement
Like I posted in above post I'm buffing the steel out to make it shine a little more for visibility
Maybe it'll pay for itself pretty quick
Thanks again

You have the handle all the way thru.... but you arent using a u bolt to secure the bottom so without those upper braces the metal is going to flex IMO at the top especially when you are PULLING the scoop back and out. I think you will be surprised how much the bottom of that handle moves once you start pulling back with a full scoop of material. Basically..... the handle is moving independently from the scoop.

I'll slide a u bolt or 2 thru bottom
Better safe than a broken scoop
Thank you

If you find where your pole connects to your scoop becomes weak think about running two rods from the front outside corners to a metal sleeve about 8 to 10 inches up your pole. Any holes in your pole will weaken it. This way the force of pulling back is on the rods, not the joint where your wood pole meets the metal tube holding your pole. The strength is in the triangle. I like your design and how you made it. Happy hunting.

NICE SCOOP, YOU MAY WANT TO WELD THAT A LITTLE BETTER. THE TACKS AT THE BOTTOM WILL SNAP. TURN DOWN THE HEAT AND RUN A GOOD BEAD.
