Let me start by saying, if the two guys who were metal detecting in East Bridgewater today read this, if I ever catch you leaving holes like this again, I'm going to wrap my detector around your throats!
I took a photo of the hole one of them left. As you can see, they left the trash on the top as well. As I walked the field the place was full of this type of crap. I'd go over there holes and pull their trash out. Lucky for me, I re-scanned one after taking out some foil and managed copper #26 for the year (pictured below). Not sure what it is. Afterwards I went out with a buddy looking for some Native American artifacts but we came up short and decided to go home. Passed a field that had a small section freshly plowed. After a few minutes I decided it was getting late and swung my way back to the car when I found the Reale. It was on the surface!!!! The rest of the stuff is from the past week of detecting.
If anyone can date that Quartermaster insignia I would appreciate it. I had someone look at it and he believes it's pre-ww1.
