While hunting a local high school field I dug this coin, not knowing at the time what it was. After getting home and looking at it with a magnifying glass I still wasn't sure but thought it may be gold because of the FIVE DOLLAR denomination. Internet research confirmed that the coin was in fact gold. It's a gold bullion coin minted in Australia at the Perth mint for distribution by the Shawnee Indian nation and was the first year of issue. The person depicted on the coin is the brother of the more famous Tecumseh". The coin contains one fifth of an ounce of pure gold. I eventually submitted it to Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine to be entered for inclusion in their annual "Best Finds Issue". When the issue arrived I was happy to see that it made it.
