So, before I show pictures of what I found, let me explain the story.

This is Sophie. She is a Netherland Dwarf/Californian mix. She is about 7 years old. She has a habit of digging tunnels in her run.

Today, I went to check on her, only to find a big mound of dirt. She was digging a tunnel. Out of curiosity, I looked though the dirt to see if she found anything cool.

I found a fossil bone with a gastropod, both encased in the same rock.

That’s Sophie, my little fossil digging partner!

Pictures of the fossil.

Gastropod.

It’s funny when you think about it! Of all things to discover a fossil, it had to be my rabbit!

Neat find! Though it looks like a piece of slag to me.

If it finds arrowheads too let me know how much for this rabbit. :tongue3:

I am still waiting on confirmation if it is really a fossil or not from a friend of mine, btw.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Teach your rabbit how to dig while your detecting, and you'll have it made ! Nice find.

She dug up these today. Looks like petrified wood to me. It is solid rock, also.

I've seen wild ones digging in my yard. Just be sure its a secured cage for the rabbit to prevent predators coming around. Just last week a fox captured one about 50 feet from my back door. I have a 4 foot fence so I guess the fox is a good jumper.

If your rabbit was named "Harvey" I would wonder...:)

Would like to see some confirmation though....it would be very cool if true...

I am trying to get confirmation from a friend today. Will let you know what he says.

Just spoke to a friend of mine who knows a LOT about fossils. Turns out that you guys are right. It’s slag.

Sorry to get you all excited.
