My self made digger

I got tired of breaking those cheap garden spades in this thick TN soil.
Handle is 5.5" oak. Two coats polyurethane. Shank set inside of it is 1/2" steel x 4.5".
Blade is 8" stainless steel (316L).
Ruler on backside.
Sheath is horse hide.
