my son and I's best detecting day yet! FIRST LARGE CENT )$#*(_@ YEAH!!!

sorry about the title, still a bit amped up. Ok heres the story, today my son and I decided to hit the 19th century home we hit last week and it was a bust, lotta junk iron everywhere and bits of tin from the tin roof being torn off, so we went to the cornfield we got permission to hunt (my sons idea (Cjon455/JR) field 1.webpfield 2.webpchristopher field.webp. I swiped back and forth for about 15 minutes as I walked a straight line and all of a sudden got a wierd hit on the ACE 350, it was hitting all the way to the right in the 50cent 1$ piece range at 4", so nice thing is the field was cut so didnt have to be all pretty cutting a plug and there she was in all her green crusty glory, our FIRST LARGE CENT!!!!:headbang::hello2: dirty LC.webp, it was literally the 3rd target we dug, first 2 were cans. anyhow, we continued on for a bit and our next target was hitting the same exact way the LC did, and out popped the flat button that says "double gilt" on itdbl gilt.webp. and one more goofy ovel shaped button thingy its at the bottom of the next picIMG00951-20130401-2056 (12).webp. My batteries began to die after that so we hit the fairgrounds and nabbed up about $1.60 in clad before dark. IMG00952-20130401-2056 (11).webpall in all a KILLER DAY.The last pic is the odds and ends junk we dug, pretty neat pottery we found too IMG00950-20130401-2055 (13).webp Im having a hard time IDing the date on the LC and dont want to clean it, look at the following pics and see if you see the 1829 that i see??, i put it next to the 1845 we bought for comparison purposes1829 maybe.webp1829 2.webpIMG00953-20130401-2109 (10).webp Guys sorry about the NOVEL, but it was an awesome day with my son and were both super excited and wanted to share. THANKS for reading and HH!!!!

Congrats! That is awesome. It does look like 1829 to me.

this is kewl I had saw a video on you tube where someone found a coin and a button as well... :) makes ya wonder what they were doing in those fields... LOL

thanks for the compliments guys!, funny thing i forgot to mention is my son said one of his goals was to hit a LC on our way to that farm, thats crazy that we actually found one! :dontknow:if im right and that is 1829 it beats our oldest coin by 41 years, hopefully that field has some 1700s coins in it.

I hate to be /that/ guy, but that style of large cent wasn't made in 1829.
Looks like 1839 to me, but hey, still beats your second oldest coin by 31 years!
Nice finds!
