Hello I've been looking for coins since I was 10. I got my first detecter at 12. I would get rolls of cents to find wheats zincs were along way off then, 100%copper. I am not a computer guy at all. My sons helped me sign up here. Joey (the Tiger), and Harrison (the year of the Dragon). I have dug about 1000 silver coins. We have found almost 10,000 silvercoins from banks. I have 8 differant bank accounts. Alot of you seem like good friends, I miss some that have gone years ago. We do about $20,000 a week mainly halves and dimes and pennies. We have our routes that alot of banks save us their coins off their counters andalot of standing orders. Our main pickup on Wed. used to be all boxes until the head teller said she clicked bags on the order now we get all bags from banks everywhere that Brinks picks up in my area. My youngest son does $9500 in dimes a week himself using soundof silver as his main way he does not miss. We do more in dimes when we pick up ones of their counters. I would never believe what is out there if I didn't sees it for myself. 3 weeks ago we got a 3cent 1870 in xf I thought thats as good as it gets until last week he's doing dimes and says he got a coin from another country 1916. I looked at it a $1 gold coin Mckinnly memorial. 2 months ago we hit 240 silver dimes in1 bag over 100 mercs. I have 4500lbs of copper pennies hand searched. We got a Rydale 1 1/2 years ago, up to over 12000 lbs copper now in 55 gal. barrels. 2 19o9 s pennies no vdb. 2400 wheats in 1 bag one time. alot of early wheats in very good shape. I would like to step up our search. I am thinking of talking to Brinks would love to do $50,000 to $100,000 in dimes a week and quit my very unpleasant job. We go to alot of banks every week, my favorite one helps us alot. First signed up there to get rid of coins, they order coins and take back, Itold them it's not nice to do and they insisted its no problem been going on for alot of years there. I take back about $9500 in dimes and $4000 in halves $300 in pennies a week there . We dump at about 6 more other banks in smaller amounts. I love doing this for the excitment of finding. I use a cart at my main dump bank but carry in the restof the banks. I give chocolate every week to my main one even the manager and banker and all the tellers. Thank you for listening to me if I can get my sons to take some pics I might try to post some . Going to weigh all the wheat pennies to get an idea of how many. Don't you just love the word silver..... if you say it softly and slowly.

Just curious, how much silver have you found this year?

That is some serious volume there Dan. :icon_thumright:

Heck of a first post as well. Welcome to treasurenet. In spite of my high post count, I'm fairly new here as well. Just a chatterbox I guess.

Anyway, please continue to post more about your finds. If you are doing that kind of volume I'm sure I could learn much from your posts.

Happy Hunting!

I don't keep track month to month or even year to year, we average about 40 to 50 silver dimes a week halves are usually something but vary alot week to week. We do epic road trips too. Just got back this week with our orders and the trip we got about $650 worth of silver. We are going Mon. far enough away we will stay over nite. I started asking banks can we top off your counter and buy them. Yesterday a teller said no way, I asked to talk to someone else she did and said no too. So Iwanted to talk to someone higher up, was given permission.... nothing in the bag I had to try the last 3 times we got good amounts. Dan

That may be the biggest volume I have heard of - 20k a week is a lot! Welcome aboard and look forward to reading your posts. While you are new to the forum, it sounds like you have much more experience than many of us here. There are great people here who know alot of things and I have learned tons in the short time I have been a member.

Best to you
MU

I don't see how you have the time to do that much? It's a lot of picking up and dumping That is huge volume.. Judging from the fact that you've dug up a lot of silver.. you're probably on the east coast. I don't really bother with digging for silver here. I've only gotten clad quarters at schools. Not really worth the time. Glad you're not in my neck of the woods.

that's truly impressive! How do you find time to search $175,000 a week?

I am a fabrication welder at a small shop in a small town, I've had my house paid for along time, I don't spend a lot, don't make a lot. My son can do a bag of dimes quick by sound. If I could do that much I would really like to quit work. I spend a lot of time dreaming.

hey it does not hurt to dream.

Dan - I'm new to CRH and I have to ask - I know silver coins sound different- but how can your son find silver by sound? I dump them and search- and it does take time, but it's usually worth it... :) your moving $175k a week is astounding, but in reality it's probably producing more in returns (and less risky) then the stock markets right now! :) dream big, I like that. Thank you - your post has made my day, I plan on doing more...as I can afford to...even if 1k is a starting point...it is good to dream bigger... ;D - you take care, and have your kids post some pics -it would be cool to see lots of silver from someone who's been doing this a long time.

I only do about $20,000 a week. It has taken a long time to build up to this much I have alot of $1000 or $2000 pickups on Sat . My big day is Wed with 3 pickups, I dump $11,000 + on Thur. Before it took me 45 min to edge search a bag of dimes, Harrison would say you missed one by hearing the silver. He does all the dimes and is very quick and appears not to miss. I will try to get the boys to take some pics. Dan

Sorry Dan I misread your $ amount, and am mostly confused by reading other people's posts! lol. still 20K a week is a lot of money for me anyhow... finding silver by sound, does he drop it on a table coin by coin? hey if it works and he can find it fast it must be good technique! :icon_thumright:

I still think having cash on hand in today's weird financial times can't be a bad idea.

thanks again, and hopefully pics will be forthcoming.

I am guessing he just drops them in the dump bucket, or box, bag whatever... I do that with halves. I do a quick edge check but mostly just listen to when I drop them in the dump bag, if or when I miss a silver edge, it is unnavoidable to miss the sound silver makes coming in contact with all those CuNi's as long as you are listening to what is happening. Silver sings to me..... (At least that is what I call it).

Hey Dan, Im hoping you can specify how your son does this by sound... It seems like it would be a bit harder with dimes since they are so much smaller but then again I have never tried it.

Hello, He hears them as he puts them in a bag. He needs everything quiet while he is doing this, when he's moving the pile towards him he will sometimes say there is a silver one coming up. When he found the 1916 gold dollar he wanted me to give him $100, I gave him $50 and he bought a bag of pennies with it. Dan
