As promised, my wife's first encounter with her Armerican Hawk, and a picture of her finds taken at the beach this morning. We were only there about 3 hours before we got hungry and decided to head to town for lunch. All in all, I think she really had a great time, which is what we went to find out.
I must admit, I was getting a little worried as every time I looked over at her, she was digging something, and I was always too far away to see what she was doing... When curiosity would get the best of me and I would work my way over to her and ask what she found, she wouldn't tell me. Finally back at the car, she handed over her cache, and here it is........note to self get better sand scoops

and here is what the MXT found in the same time period. I have to admit that I am a novice at this and I am just getting to the point where I feel comfortable enough to be able to rely on the display so as to not have to dig as much as her. She has to dig everything, as neither of us could not come up with a way to discriminate a coin from a pull tab, or hairpin.

As you can see, little Hawk, weighing in at less than 1 1/2 pounds, does an adequate job working the beach (at least from our very limited experience) It held its own against the MXT, but keep in mind I am just learning and know diddle squat about metal detectors. (I would love to spend a few hours learning with someone who really could work one of these)
I hope this helps someone
