Garrett Pin-Pointer
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
It was back in the 80's sometime that I bought my Fisher 1220-X detector.

The first place everone tries is their back yard and I got a strong signal underneath my apple tree.

I didn't have any proper diggers back then so I don't remember what I used, but it was fairly deep.

Out popped this vintage Victorian embossed cuff bracelet marked " STERLING +W+ ".

I can still remember what an exciting find this was and what an exciting way to start out in this hobby...

Awesome find.

My first find ever was yesterday, and it was a...wait for it...PULLTAB!!! My 4 year old thinks its the greatest thing EVER!!! What a fun time!!!

My first day of metal detecting I went to a site right along a road where an old house had at one time stood. I had never used my metal detector before. But I had researched what to possibly expect with certain VDI numbers. Right away, right along the road I got a STRONG silver dollar VDI and dug up a crushed beer can. I followed that up by digging 12 more cans right in a row thinking/hoping one was a silver dollar. I passed on the next one though assuming it was just another can. But as I kept detecting I couldn't help but think that perhaps that one skipped was a dollar and not a can. So I went back and dug up can #14 for the day. It was January, I was cold, and I wasn't loving the hobby all that much at that moment. But I did find a mercury dime a week later and that made up for it.
