Only a Barber but you have no idea what this one means to me!
I have been looking for a Barber, any Barber for over 6 years now, a coin I should have found but never did.
I found rosies and mercs, even a seated and as far as coins go I even knocked a silver dollar off that list but a Barber remained and that monkey on my back was getting heavy...and driving me crazy.

Yesterday in my scoured to death local park where I never had a thought one of these could be hiding I found my white whale swimming around.
Not deep, only 2-3" but this park has mineralized soil and extra iron everywhere because it used to be a dump site and old homes also existed here but were knocked down long ago.
I learned to deal with the mineralization and get pretty deep with my F70, found settings to unmask a ton of great things in this mess but three hunts ago I changed my settings and on every hunt since I came home with some silver...this one tops them all.

Can't convey how happy I am about this one, not just the dime that I was hoping for, either, plus it got me into the 1800's for 2017.
How can one 25¢ coin elicit so much joy?

My first 3 silver's for the year below, a dime, a sash pin or hair barrett marked sterling and this beautiful coin, the pin came from a permission lawn I thought I drained completely and the coins were found in the public park in areas hunted by others for decades and myself repeatedly for many months, all severely masked and resting peacefully for way too long till I snatched them out of the bosom of mother earth.

Man I love this hobby!

Its a hard thing for others to understand, but hard-core detectorists know this sentiment well. I once told my brother I'd give up a days pay to dig an Indian Head penny, and I meant it!

Lol!
I have a friend that has the same goal, he has found all kinds of great old coins but an IH is still his holy grail.

We "get it" but the muggles in our real lives rarely do.
Not much thrills me more than finding gold, still flying high from a silver dollar I found over a year ago but this one matches them...or it is so close it is hard to tell.
Funny how this hobby works.

Outstanding find. It feels so good when you can scratch something like that off of your list. I've been searching for a Barber quarter now for three years. I've found a number of Barber dimes, but never a quarter. Congratulations!

Congrats - nothing like finding a Barber, especially a quarter!

Nice story, thanks for sharing! Congratualtions on the big silver find, learning your machine and trying different techniques really paid off. :occasion14:

Congrats on getting that elusive first! WTG!

I'm glad for you congrats on the special quarter. There will be more

Congratulations, I think we all know that joy of finding that elusive coin. Mine was a silver Rosie, which took me over a year to find. Oh the joy!

Sweet find! Congrats on finally catching that elusive white whale!

Nice one too , mine is also the IH cent - this will be the year (i hope)

Congratulations on your first Barber! Even tho I've found a quarter, half dollar, and couple of dimes of this type I'm still just as thrilled to find them as if it were my first time. :icon_thumright:

Congrats, nice find! It's great when a place you feel has been hunted out comes back and shows you there's still something good hidden there.

Congrats on digging that bucket lister. :occasion14: I know you had to be stoked. :headbang: Don't cha just love the rush you get from pulling a 1st. :icon_thumright:

I've dug a barber half and a barber dime, but the quarter is on my list now. Great job it's a great feeling when you knock one off the list!

top of my list a a couple cans of gold $20 pieces

Congrats on the Barber. Nice coin.

We all have our target coins, mine is a Walking Liberty half.

This year!

Congratulations on this beautiful Barber quarter... you've found my white whale already (a Seated)... I'd send you a handful of barbers if you could give me the chance to dig a seated!

Must feel great to check that off your bucket list.
Congrats
