Only a Barber but you have no idea what this one means to me!
I have been looking for a Barber, any Barber for over 6 years now, a coin I should have found but never did.
I found rosies and mercs, even a seated and as far as coins go I even knocked a silver dollar off that list but a Barber remained and that monkey on my back was getting heavy...and driving me crazy.
Yesterday in my scoured to death local park where I never had a thought one of these could be hiding I found my white whale swimming around.
Not deep, only 2-3" but this park has mineralized soil and extra iron everywhere because it used to be a dump site and old homes also existed here but were knocked down long ago.
I learned to deal with the mineralization and get pretty deep with my F70, found settings to unmask a ton of great things in this mess but three hunts ago I changed my settings and on every hunt since I came home with some silver...this one tops them all.
Can't convey how happy I am about this one, not just the dime that I was hoping for, either, plus it got me into the 1800's for 2017.
How can one 25¢ coin elicit so much joy?
My first 3 silver's for the year below, a dime, a sash pin or hair barrett marked sterling and this beautiful coin, the pin came from a permission lawn I thought I drained completely and the coins were found in the public park in areas hunted by others for decades and myself repeatedly for many months, all severely masked and resting peacefully for way too long till I snatched them out of the bosom of mother earth.
Man I love this hobby!
