looks like the edges have the surface worn off

Very interesting.

It does seem gold plated, I can't tell if there are tarnish marks or just dirt. I didnt want to scratch away at it if im not supposed to. I dont know squat about coins, guess I'll take it in to a shop to get some input before I start tearing up the yard it clearly has the cross on the front and waves, pillars, and v on the back. But it's hard to tell much else on it, or any dates.

Hang tight! You'll get some responses! There are some very knowledgeable folks that hang around here!

Welcome to the forum. I'm no help with ID but am curious to find out what it is

Hi; CRUSADER is your man. In the meantime, Please turn the front of the coin so the flat edge is facing North along with the Cross Shank ok. There are some details that are standing out to me but I'm having a hard time because of the coins current rotation in the picture ok. Please Post the new Pictures. Thanks. PEACE:RONB

Its a fantasy "pirate coin". They sell them all over the caribbean and florida. I dug a bunch of them as a kid and thought I was king of the world. But ever since, I know those fantasy repros at first sight.

Additional photos

Here are some photos. I've already quit my job and booked my cruise for bermuda, so I'm really banking in this thing being real. 😉

I think the photos keep getting rotated when they post, hopefully it is just that way on my phone?

I posted some more photos, but I think they may be rotating as soon as I post them. Or at least it appears that way on my phone. Thanks!

I for one hope its the real deal. Thanks for sharing with us!!!!

I hope I'm wrong, but it looks to be cast to me. Something doesn't look right but still an interesting find.

the round spot on the edge is where the metal flows into the casting

yep appears to be a Fantasy Piece to Me, But cool Find for Sure

Yep. Even Kelly Co will give you a "Genuine Replica" when you purchase a new metal detector.
Congrats

Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate it!
