The Hammered Penny I'm unsure of is in the top right corner of the blue background.
Things I know:
It's a Penny
Normally a Quatrefoil in the centre of the reverse is a York Mint, however some of Ed IV's Irish coins have this reverse type.
Its hard to make out the reverse letters: CIV[ITAS] ???? ??IS (which is not a York spelling!)
The obverse has 2 crosses or trefoils by neck & a odd letter/symbol? by the left of Crown.
Heavily clipped & worn, so letters are hard to make out on Obverse.

Any ideas?

Mr. hammered is asking us? :icon_scratch::laughing7: If you don't know, it must be rare! :icon_thumright:

Hi Cru,

Spink 2119 or similar Durham mint penny of Ed IV?

Obverse has B to left of crown, V below CIVI and on chest with lis on both shoulders

Your reverse has a D in the middle and an extra pellet in each quarter similar to this:

https://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=Pastresults&auc=170&searchlot=1313&searchtype=2

And the 10th one down here:

https://www.hallshammeredcoins.com/?page=coins&offset=32&type=99

Your reverse legend is odd for Durham, could be a mule or something else similar to 2119.

let me get this straight... YOU are asking US about an English hammered silver penny? I just looked over my shoulder to see if I was being pranked!

my best guess is Edward I... London...

Ah, I think the reverse legend is CIVITAS DUNOLMIE or similar for Durham. The letter that looks like an S is an (odd) E.

Example of spink 2119 with the matching reverse legend here:

Thanks, It was the funny E that throw me in the wrong directions - thanks. I thought Ed IV was the most likely, but never spotted that small V in the reverse!
This is my first example & will now go in the album - Cheers again - SOLVED
