When we first found this we assumed it was obsidian, it definitely looks like it could be volcanic glass especially because of the way it fractures but one detail is throwing me off. Where it is fractured the sheen is highly metallic though for the record the pinpointer doesn't react to it. It's hard to see it clearly in the photo but the fractured spots almost look like some sort of refried metal like I've found at a local landfill, kinda dark grey silvery-ish. It might be obsidian but I'm hoping for a second opinion from the rock hounds here....

It looks more like a slag glass in my opinion. All the obsidian red, red with black specks and black that I have seen is more smooth.

Yeah, I kinda thought that as well, the lack of reaction from the pinpointer suggests that it's not and it's definitely consistent with the look of obsidian we've found in this area. The slag I've found is often greenish but that may vary, my girl found a gorgeous piece of deep blue slag just recently actually. The metallic luster is unusual to be sure and it's making me second guess but perhaps I'm overthinking the obvious here
