I found this nail today on the beach. Is there any way to date nails roughly or find out what they may have been used for or even what it is made of?

Without knowing the size, I would say modern flat head nail. Made of iron.

It's 6.5cm (2.5inches approx) and extremely light. It's also not round but flat
