I'm new to the site but wanted to get some feedback on these. I found them while walking my grandfathers field in Plain City, Ohio a few weeks back. The one that puzzles me is the one that looks like a hatchet head. On one side of it there is a x shaped groove where I think it would have been lashed onto to a handle. Any thoughts on thoughts on why only one of the faces of the hatchet like is finished?

Brad

Hey! Welcome to T net. I suspect what you my have is a crude celt, maybe scraper and not a typical grooved axe. Keep looking, there's likely plenty more things to be found there.

Welcome to the site and than you for posting your finds. It does look like a Celt but if its flat on one side and kinda rounded on the other it might be a Adze which is a wood working tool. The points look to be Archaic period.Looks like you had a good hunt. Id like to see what else you find on your next hunt. Thanks, rock

Nice celt. The little point is cool also. Thanks for posting.
