Hello! I was out looking for sea glass on Long Island, NY when I happened upon the strange rock attached. Either quartz mixed with some black rock (or perhaps some agent to dye it black) but definitely a rock and what looks to be a diamond pattern etched into it. I know 'right angles' aren't found in nature and, it being Indian country where I found it, anyone have a hunch as to whether it might be some a Native American artifact? Front and back pics attached. A bit of a stretch to call it a face (with the diamond the mouth) but perhaps. If not Native American any clues as to what it might be? Many thanks and happy new year!

Idk looks natural but I'm no expert maybe someone else can help thanks for posting [emoji106]🏻

The square hole is where a crystal of some type was that fell out or dissolved. We have lost of quartz around here with square holes where galena crystals were. Sorry, not Native made but still cool.

indina steve nailed it...the clue is in what you said..."diamond pattern"

Welcome to the forum!

The previous posters have nailed it. But keep looking!

One of mine - where a calcite crystal used to be...

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! My hopes of finding a Native American artifact might be dashed but something nice about an unsatisfied quest.

I'll find one whether it means resorting to Navajo mysticism or Cherokee fisticism. As the old expression goes, if you can't beat 'em, wampum.

When I do find one I'm going straight to the nearby Indian casino's strip club, where their totem pole dances and lap rain dances make your pole dance and your lap rain.

In all seriousness thanks for the intel and nice to know mother nature does make right angles. And play tricks. She's one cruel cruel ***** that mother nature...

You definitely deserve the title based on those credentials.

Me bequeath thee the psycho-nomenclatural hand ye up.

Figured I was coming up with an 'Original' name on this site.

Thanks. If this were a fishing forum I'd try for Catfish_Hunter but am sure that would be taken.
