When I was in the Boy Scouts (46 years ago) a member of my troop found something like this (but with only one slot) that was identified as a Native American artifact ... an arrow shaft straightener used by sliding the arrow shaft back and forth through the slot while the shaft was still hot from being heated in a campfire. But why two slots?
