I got out to this spot in Savannah, GA on 3 separate short hunts with the XP Deus and dug a nice variety of history including this broke sword hilt brass piece with a Navy Anchor on it. It is was my surprise of the year thus far since it was totally crusted over with green patina. From what I have been told it probably dates to just after the Rev War so very late 18th to very early 19th centuries. I love finding items that are initially unassuming that turn into true treasure after cleaning them. I really makes this hobby special.

Nice saves. The anchor button is post 1830, and the emblem is probably about the same age. The navies didn't have a lot of additional insignia in the 18th century.
I agree, I'm not sure what the Anchor piece attached to but it looks post-1900 to me.

Awesome finds BH!!! Congrats and thanks for sharing!!! "D"

Thanks! Here is a picture of the Navy Anchor after I washed it off with water and brushed it with at toothbrush. This is the point that I realized that there was actually something marked or written on the front. I could barely make out the anchor. So I started to seriously clean it and it turned out beautiful.
